Sony ps3 YLOD BGA reflow repair
The YLOD defect on the Playstation 3 computer has been referred to as the Yellow light of Death fault. The YLOD nick-name was given due to the ps3 flashing a red and yellow light just before the the console shuts itself down.

Over time and because of the heat generated by the GPU the lead free solder starts to crack and as a result your console will no longer function.
You will normally hear three beeps and then see flashing lights before your ps3 console shuts down. It must be noted that you do not always receive a yellow/amber flashing light before the console shuts down, you can receive a red or green light also. If your ps3 console develops the YLOD fault you will not be able to recover any of your data from the hard drive unless, a BGA infra red repair service is carried out to your console.
